A strange book called the Facebook!!!
But now given the current scenario when life is fast paced and when we are all struggling to survive with that ever grinning fake smile, it seems friendship is just confined to Facebook…Even within Facebook it reflects a status message that I chanced upon to read which goes like this “Friendship on Facebook is like `KOLAVERI DI`….No need 2 understand, just enjoy it. Yes that’s how it has been over the last few years….
We take pride in the ever growing list of our friends in Facebook sometimes even without knowing whether we really want to call the other person a friend or just an acquaintance…I hope soon Facebook has a separate list where people can be added as acquaintances and not just so called friends. The very meaning of friendship and the closeness attached to it has changed and it’s not just the fad called Facebook but also our lifestyle which has to be equally blamed for this.
How many times in the recent past have we picked up our fancy mobile phones to dial up a friends number and connect with him/her??? Rather we are just happy to follow posts about marriages, deaths, births, promotions, new relationship statuses, holidays, parties and even ill health reading them all just like reading some glossy bollywood magazine without the least care or emotion just clicking the “like” button or adding a few senseless comments like a programmed robot. Yes sadly this is how it’s all been restricted to….
If at all we take fancy then we prefer to few lines in the chat window which ultimately just articulates into few newly coined phrases like “LOL” and “ROLF” which even the English dictionary is yet to get acquainted with….Is this the new age of friendship??? I get scared to ask this as I am also a part of this ever growing generation whom we proudly call “Netizens”….
Commenting on a few pictures without really understanding the emotions that went behind them or liking a few status updates is not called friendship..It is rather tested when we can actually be there when someone needs us rather than behave like maniacs in the cyber space showing our likes and dislikes…I would prefer a friend who’s there for me when I need him/her the most then a friend who likes my every stupid post and am sure so would many of you even if you like to flaunt your growing friend list….never the less happy Facebooking!!!

She's the Girl!!
She remembers the first time when I smiled at her yet she forgets which bus would take her home, she remembers the first time I hugged her yet she forgets the PIN of her debit card, she remembers the last time I made her cry yet she forgets which station of Metro she is supposed to get down to reach her destination….Yes she is the GIRL that lives in every girl……
She takes care of everything for everyone yet she forgets that she needs to take care of herself…She makes sure that no one is ever hungry yet she has no time to treat herself with something that she loves to munch…Yes she is the GIRL that lives in every girl….She takes care of how I should look when I go out to meet important people but she’s the one who is least bothered over her un polished nails…She mends my unstitched buttons yet she has no time to fix her broken hooks….She laughs at my silliest jokes yet she cries over sweet nothings….
Yes she is the GIRL that lives in every girl…She can remember the dates where we met at different places for the first time yet she forgets the date when she should have wished her near and dear ones….She keeps a tab on every important assignment that I need to finish yet she goofs up on her own assignment when she’s thinking about US…
She shouts at me when I am careless about my health yet she bothers the least about her own…Yes she’s the GIRL that lives in every girl….She knows what I should buy for people back home yet she wants nothing for herself and is unsure what she wants when I ask her to buy something…..She knows how much I look good in a particular hair style yet she gives a damn when she has a bad hair day….
She can stitch, she can mend, she can cook and she can clean, she can drive, she can shop yet she cries at the drop of a wink….Yes she’s the GIRL that lives in every girl…She can be the biggest strength at time of distress, she can give sound advice when needed yet she is lost when it comes to decide when she needs a career jump….She can solve complex programming codes, she can lead a team of people yet she is unable to even calculate her CTC and the components attached to it….Yes she’s the GIRL that lives in every girl….
She cares for everyone as no one ever did, she wakes up all night when someone is ill, yet she won’t tell you when she is unwell….She can sacrifice her dinner when people at home prefer to eat non-vegetarian, she will even cook it yet show contentment with just a bowl of magi for herself…Yes she’s the GIRL that lives in every girl…..
I don’t know too many of such girls and people say that most of them are like this, I have not seen many nor have witnessed how they live their life…but I have seen one and that makes me believe “Yes she’s the GIRL that should live in every girl”…..

My companion….
Everyone needs a faithful companion and I too have one who has been there with me through thick and thin, bearing with me during my occasional bouts of mood swings and always there to lend that healing and soothing touch to my hyper active senses at times…..The association started a good eleven years back or so and it’s been one hell of a bond that we share till date, together we have seen many ups and downs in life, have been each other’s best critic and my companion is one of the very few to have ever witnessed the many side of my mood, jovial, pensive, angry, frustrated, elated, excited, apprehensive and the list can go on for eternity….
Never has my companion ever complained about anything, has always been a silent witness. Always easily available whenever I felt the need and faithfully being there with me. My companion has also been there when I treated friends over weekends or even then when I just wanted to be with myself, quenching my thirsty and dry lips and soothing my nerves at times.
Initially getting hold of my companion was not a very costly affair, but over the years thanks to the cost of living, my companion has also turned out to be quiet pricy but never the less this didn’t dampen the spirit of our companionship. There are many names that I call my companion with but here I will refer to the one favorite of mine which is KF…KF knows that our companionship is not that healthy, nor accepted socially but I insist that we continue. My very good friend is also against our relation knowing that it’s unhealthy…no no not the way that you might think… (wink wink)….
KF is tall, slender, soothing, and the best when chilled out….Now that’s some physicality to have, am sure many from the fairer sex would be put to shame reading KF’s qualities, but I take KF for granted, knowing KF would be there whenever I want KF to be barring few days in the year when both me and KF have no control over KF’s unavailability….Specially in Delhi these days are more in number than anywhere else in the country…(sic)
The weekends are never without the companionship of KF no matter what as I always believe after slogging it out for 6 days in a week I just can’t do without KF and the chilled out effect that KF brings to both the mind and the body…but more to the mind. The eleven years of togetherness has been simply awesome to even describe and the association has many fond and some not so fond memories, but it’s always been irresistible….
Wondering now and eager to know who KF is??? Yes it’s none other than the bottle of beer going by the name of King Fisher (KF) a companion to me like many of my breed…..
