A true "bong beauty"...
A small city tucked away in the wilderness of the beautiful North East. The city many know as the Scotland of the East is where I come from and is named as Shillong. The protagonist of this blog also comes from the same city and we both grew up in the same locality.
The proverbial “bong beauty” if I can attribute to anyone, out of all the bong ladies that I have known, I will blindly attribute it to her....and this probably made her the first crush of many in those times, and I guess I was no different. Well now that I am writing this I will try and recollect my memories of seeing her and knowing her though it wasn’t much through personal interactions during those days, but yes more of an observation- a kind of awe struck observation that as a teenager we are used to doing whom we admired. I still can’t believe I am actually writing this with her consent.
Well...now let me see how far I can stretch the limit of my grey cells and start to recollect things. The first thing that comes to my mind when I try to recollect things, is the fact that she always carried the “I am serious” look although once she open ups then it’s completely different, yet by that look you will not find yourself at ease in case you think of approaching her. The walk through the lanes of the para with a set of books held close to her made the look even more serious and intellectual....and why shouldn’t it be intellectual, when you have the combination of beauty and brains...I mean it’s obvious to reflect somewhere. I particularly remember this vividly as I guess that is the time she used to come back from tuitions along with a close friend in toe and we were busy playing cricket on those lanes.
Durga Puja was one time eagerly awaited as Dashami was one day where you could possibly have the luck to dance with her on the way to the immersion site or share the same truck while coming back....I was amongst the fortunate ones to have had the opportunity of both on quite a few occasions and that almost made my day, not to forget one particular occasion where the protagonist held out her hand to me to help her alight from the truck......well I was at my chivalrous best at that moment. I could see some hatred and a lot of envy in the eyes of many but did I care...not at all...to sink in joy of the fact of helping her alight was enough at that precise moment.
Then came a phase where I moved out of Shillong to pursue studies and a career and years later thanks to Facebook re-established contact with her. Then through interactions in Facebook I came to know her much better, also came to know that she too had been abroad to pursue higher studies and was back working in Delhi NCR.
I never thought that such on and off interactions over a social media site would one day provide me the opportunity that many would be jealous off- yes the opportunity to shoot her pictures thanks to my new found passion in photography around the same time. I admit today that I had butterflies in meeting her before the shoot....I was scared how it will go and what will be the final outcome of the pictures. I was relieved when she liked the pictures and that added confidence in me to do many such shoots with others as well. I will remember her gesture of agreeing to come on a shoot with an amateur photographer and someday if I make it good in life as a photographer I will love to remember her as my first model....wow that means a lot isn’t it???
Now that she is settled in a different city again the interactions are mostly through Facebook. Whatever little I have known her or understood her I can summarise that she is a perfect Virgo, intelligent, sharp, emotional, lets the heart decide more often than the brain, independent and likes her independence and takes pride in it, smart, and most probably a perfectionist too like most Virgo’s and yes how do I forget once again a “true bong beauty”.........
